Lighter with USB drive

It seems breaking the monotony of traditional gadgets is in vogue. First it was the alarm and now the USB lighter. Unlike the conventional lighters, this one designed by Nathan Gabriele uses resistance coils to generate heat instead of the lighter fluid and a flint.

Working on the pattern of the car lighters, this lighter features a tiny rechargeable battery to power the coil, which can be recharged USB. Now this make over story doesn’t ends here. Ther’s more in store in this lighter particularly for the geeky soul.

What?… Memory space…yes, the USB can store your impotant fils together with providing you the desired heat when you plan to take a fag.

Quite innovative…must say!

SanDisk Cruzer Contour

SanDisk Corporation today announced availability of Cruzer Contour, a sleek USB flash drive that brings together high-end design and blazing speed. Much like a fine wristwatch, Cruzer Contour is a luxury personal accessory as well as a piece of functional technology.

What especially sets apart Cruzer Contour, with its glossy black top and silver metallic body, is the drive's unique sliding USB connector. Using a thumb to slide the top of Cruzer Contour back and forth brings out or hides the connector. There's no visible switch, and no cap to lose.

"Cruzer Contour is a showpiece of innovative design, bringing a new look to the category of USB flash drives," said Roy Ramati, vice president of marketing for the USB business unit at SanDisk. "And the beauty here is more than skin deep, with Cruzer Contour's expansive storage capacity, fast data transfer, strong security and generous bundle of pre-loaded software."

Available in 4 gigabyte (GB) and 8 GB capacities, Cruzer Contour's features include:

Design: The slider requires nothing more than two flicks of the thumb. Moving the top back and then forward brings out the connector, while moving the top forward and then back pulls in the connector. When Cruzer Contour is connected to a computer, blue LEDs illuminate the word "Cruzer" on the drive's top.

Performance: Cruzer Contour delivers a write speed of 18 MB/sec2, double the performance of SanDisk's previous top-of-the-line retail model. Read speed for Cruzer Contour is two-thirds faster at 25 MB/secĂ‚². Cruzer Contour also supports the ReadyBoost feature in Microsoft Windows Vista, which taps unused storage space on USB flash drives to improve system performance - especially when several applications are running simultaneously.

Pre-installed software: Cruzer Contour offers U3 technology for running applications directly from the drive, without those applications having to be installed on the computer. U3-compatible software provided free with the drive includes the PC phone service Skype, SanDisk's own CruzerSync for synchronizing files between a PC and the drive, the password manager program SignupShield Passwords from Protecteer, and a trial version of anti-virus software. Just for fun, there are two titles from Big Fish Games: Sudoku and Mahjong Towers Eternity.

Security: Cruzer Contour provides password protection through U3, backed by AES hardware encryption. This is much stronger than the software-based security available on some USB flash drives. With password protection turned on, Cruzer Contour owners have less to worry about if the drive is lost or stolen.

Cruzer Contour became available in the United States in mid-June, and will become available in Asia in early July and in Europe in August.

The 4GB model has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $99.99 in the U.S., and the 8GB model has a U.S. MSRP of $189.99.

SanDisk is the original inventor of flash storage cards and is the world's largest supplier of flash data storage card products, using its patented, high-density flash memory and controller technology. SanDisk is headquartered in Milpitas, California, and has operations worldwide, with more than half its sales outside the U.S.

Microsoft Unveils First Notebook Mouse With 1 GB of Flash Memory Built Into Transceiver

Microsoft Hardware is taking mobile computing to a new level with the Microsoft® Mobile Memory Mouse 8000, the industry's first rechargeable notebook mouse with 1 GB of flash memory built right into the transceiver. Designed to prevent Universal Serial Bus (USB) port shortage, the single transceiver is a three-in-one supertool that lets users simultaneously work wirelessly, save important files with 1 GB of storage and recharge the mouse without deficiency in performance - all through one USB port.

Computing on the go has never been more productive, with the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 freeing up USB ports and delivering all the tools consumers need to get the job done in one sleek, compact device. With the added convenience of 1 GB of storage in the mouse transceiver, users can easily store the information they need on the go - whether it's their favorite photos, PowerPoint® presentations or even music files.

"With the continued rise in notebook sales, there is a huge demand for smart peripherals that help mobile users get their work done more efficiently, and the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 combines three key tools into one stylish device," said Matt Barlow, worldwide director of marketing and partner development at Microsoft Hardware. "Over the past 25 years Microsoft Hardware has consistently raised the bar of innovation, and adding a gigabyte of memory to the mouse transceiver is truly a computing milestone. We've packed more memory into the transceiver than an entire computer had 25 years ago."
Memory in the Mouse

With 1 GB of flash memory in the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000, storing files on the road has never been easier. The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000's transceiver has plenty of space to save and transport important files, whether it is a PowerPoint presentation for a meeting, Microsoft Word documents to send to the printer, or a video clip of the family to take on a business trip.
Simply Magnetic Charging

The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 uses an innovative magnetic charging system that lets consumers continue working while the mouse recharges. The charging cord magnetically connects at one end to the underside of the mouse, and the other to the tip of the transceiver. Now consumers never have to interrupt their work when the battery is low or give up an extra USB port to recharge their mouse. The included AAA rechargeable battery also offers more than three weeks of battery power on a full charge.
Get Confident With 2.4 GHz or Choose to Go Bluetooth

The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 features advanced wireless technology that allows notebook users to choose how they want to connect - with 2.4GHz wireless or Bluetooth. A switch on the bottom of the mouse enables Bluetooth notebook users to connect directly to their laptop without using the included transceiver. The 2.4GHz transceiver connects to all notebooks and provides the following three key benefits:

* Confident connection with virtually no interference.Intelligent technology "hops" frequency when it encounters interference, making it ideal for crowded wireless environments with multiple computers.
* Wireless freedom. Users can sit back and click up to 30 feet away from the transceiver, even if it's out of sight.
* Easy setup and use. Users can just plug in the transceiver and start working.

Windows Flip 3D at Your Fingertips

The Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 creates a seamless connection between hardware and Windows Vista® with new access to the popular Windows Flip 3D feature right from the mouse. With the press of a button, users can flip through open windows in a stack, and quickly switch between applications for added productivity. The mouse also features proprietary High Definition Laser Technology, a Tilt Wheel and two side buttons (Magnifier and Back) so customers can enjoy a highly efficient and top-of-the-line notebook mouse.
More Than Another Pretty Mouse

All the functionality of the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is packed into a design of pure elegance and complete comfort. Microsoft's first right-handed notebook mouse offers many comfort-boosting features, including a sculpted right-handed shape, a deep thumb scoop and a curved top surface for hours of comfortable use. With black high-gloss surfaces and real metal finishes, it's the sleekest notebook mouse available. A carrying case completes the package, holding and protecting the mouse, transceiver, and charging cable. Whether users are at home or on the go, the Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 is the only notebook device needed to get the job done.

Sony Unveils Second Edition of Reader Digital Book

The new Reader (model PRS-505) features a svelte body design and is available in two colors -- silver and dark blue. Re-styled controls more closely mimic paper page turns and allow for quick, intuitive navigation.

A next-generation electronic paper display delivers faster response and a higher contrast ratio for easy reading even in bright sunshine. Eight levels of gray scale provide for crisp and clear text, images, and graphics.

"For people on the go, this device is compelling because it allows them to carry a wide variety of reading materials whether they are on a cross-country flight, in a doctor's office waiting room, or at a beach resort," said Steve Haber, senior vice president of Sony's Digital Imaging and Audio Division. "The Reader can handle a stack of books and other documents that people would rather not carry, yet offers a 'book-like' reading experience unavailable with other electronic devices."

With the capacity to store up to 160 typical eBooks, the Reader can act as a mobile library. Expansion slots for Memory Stick Duo(TM) media or SD memory cards make the device's library potential practically limitless.

More advanced users will appreciate the new USB-based mass storage capability that allows them to use the device as a portable drive for the direct transfer of documents, images and other files to the Reader. A new auto sync feature also lets users set up folders with books and documents that can be automatically synchronized when the device is connected to a PC.
A Growing Online Store

Since Sony's launch of the CONNECT(TM) eBooks Store last year, the number of downloadable eBooks offered has expanded to more than 20,000 titles with new ones added weekly.

Grove/Atlantic, Harcourt Trade, Kensington, Pearson Education, The Perseus Books Group, Regnery Publishing, Taylor & Francis and W.W. Norton have joined the ranks of publishers such as Hachette Book Group USA, Harlequin, HarperCollins Publishers, Holtzbrinck Publishers, Hyperion, McGraw Hill, Penguin Group, Random House and Simon & Schuster in their commitment to electronic publishing.

Recent newcomers to the store include Reader's Digest, the first magazine to produce content for the Reader and Dorling Kindersley with titles coming soon. The site also boasts a number of Rough Guide travel titles.

The New International Version Bible by Zondervan(R) (a unit of HarperCollins Publishers) quickly rose to the top of the eBook store's bestseller list after it was added to the collection last month. And blockbuster authors such as Dean Koontz and Mitch Albom recently debuted electronic versions of their work to an enthusiastic response.

For a limited time, when a Reader is registered on Sony's CONNECT eBooks Store, customers will receive a credit good for the purchase of 100 available CONNECT Classics titles, including the works of William Shakespeare, Jane Austen, H.G. Wells and more.

"Since launching almost a year ago, we've confirmed that Reader owners are avid book readers and great customers of our growing selection of book titles," said Lee Shirani, vice president for eBooks at Sony CONNECT. "Publishers are responding by making more electronic titles available, and, increasingly by making them available at the same time as print versions are released.

"As a result, at any given time, we carry a majority of what's on the New York Times Bestsellers list and our weekly top downloads closely track with the most popular print titles."

The CONNECT store offers a broad selection of fiction and non-fiction, bestsellers, well-known authors, classics and more, with rich descriptive content in the form of author biographies, expert book reviews and reader commentary.
Benefits Remain the Same

The Reader's high-resolution electronic paper display delivers a realistic print look that rivals traditional paper and uses minimal power. A single battery charge provides up to 7,500 pages of continuous reading. The option to magnify the text in three sizes offers a distinct advantage for sight-impaired readers. Switching the Reader to landscape mode offers yet another level of magnification as well as a wider page view.

In addition to electronic books, the Reader can also store and display personal and business documents in Adobe PDF format (best when formatted for the Reader's display), RTF, text and JPEG images.
Pricing and Availability

The new Reader will retail for about $300 and come complete with a USB cable; eBook Library PC companion software; and a color-coordinated, protective soft cover.
